If you have lost or forgotten your iPhone passcode and you entered the wrong passcode too many times, your iPhone can be disabled. When this happens, Apple will recommend that you restore the device in iTunes to unlock it. But you may not be able to use iTunes if you don’t have a trusted computer.
If this is the case, you will find the solutions to unlock a disabled iPhone without iTunes.
If you are unable to unlock disabled iPhone with iTunes for one reason or another, we recommend trying DFU mode first. DFU Mode is the go-to solution when recovery mode will not work and it often works. Follow these simple steps to put your device in DFU Mode:
Step 1: Connect the iPhone to computer.
Step 2: Put your iPhone in DFU mode, here’s how to do that for the various model:
iPhone 8 or Later:
Press the Volume up button, then press the Volume down button. Press and hold the Side button. Don’t release the Side button until the screen turns black.
While still holding the Side button, press and hold the Volume button for about 5 seconds.
Let go of the Side button but continue to hold the Volume Down button for 10 seconds.
iPhone 7 and 7 Plus:
Press and hold both the Side and the Volume Down button for at least 10 seconds.
Let go of the Side button, but continue to hold the Volume Down button for 5 additional seconds.
iPhone 6 or Earlier:
Press the Home and Power buttons at the same time for 10 seconds.
Let go of the Power button, but keep holding the Home button for 5 additional seconds.
Step 3: Then, open iTunes and you should see the message saying, “iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode…”. Click “OK”.
Step 4: Click “Restore iPhone” and iTunes will begin downloading the latest firmware to restore the iPhone.
When the process is complete, the disabled iPhone will be unlocked.
You can also fix disabled iPhone without iTunes through iCloud. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: On any browser, go to https://www.icloud.com/ and sign in with your Apple ID and password.
Step 2: Click on “Find iPhone”.
Step 3: Click on “All Devices” at the top of the next window and then select the disabled iPhone from the drop-down list.
Step 4: You should see three options. Select “Erase iPhone” and the device will be erased remotely. This will unlock the device and you can then restore it from an iCloud backup.
If you are unable to use DFU mode or iCloud to unlock the device, we recommend using the LazePaw iPhone Passcode Unlocker (iOS 15 supported). This is a third-party unlocking tool that can be used to fix a disabled iPhone in minutes without iTunes or iCloud.
Install LazePaw on to your computer and then follow these simple steps to unlock iPhone.
Step 1: Open LazePaw and then select “Unlock Lock Screen Passcode” from the options in the main window. Click “Start” to begin the process.
Step 2: Connect the disabled iPhone to computer and wait for the program to detect the device. Click “Next” to continue.
Step 3: You will need to download the latest firmware to unlock the device. Click “Download” to begin downloading the necessary firmware.
Step 4: Once the firmware package has been downloaded and extracted, click on “Start Unlock”. Keep the device connected until the device is unlocked.
The following are some of its most notable features:
You can remove iPhone lock screen even if you don’t know the passcode.
Remove different types of screen passcode, including 4/6-digit passcode, Touch ID, Face ID, custom numeric code, etc.
Bypass iCloud activation lock without entering the passcode.
It is compatible with all iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch models, including iPhone 14.
It is also fully compatible with the latest version of iOS 14.
You might be able to use a little-known Siri bug to fix the disabled device. But this method will only work if you are running iOS 8.0- 11. Follow these steps to use Siri:
Step 1: Press the Home Button on your iPhone to activate Siri.
Step 2: Ask Siri for the time. You can do that by saying “Hey Siri, what’s the time?”.
Step 3: The clock will be displayed on the screen. Tap on the “+” icon to add a new world clock.
Step 4: Type in anything on the search bar that appears and then click on the text to highlight it. Choose “Select All” from the options presented.
Step 5: Then click “Share” and choose the Message icon.
Step 6: Type anything in the “To” field and then hit return on the keyboard.
Step 7: This will highlight the text in the field. Tap on the “+” icon and then select “Create New Contact”.
Step 8: Select “Add Photo” to go to the device’s photo library.
Step 9: Wait a few seconds and then press the Home button again to go back to the Home Screen. You will notice that the device will be unlocked.
If your iPhone is still disabled after trying all the methods above, your only option may be to visit local Apple Store to checked by technicians. This option may cost you quite a lot of money, but the Apple techs will have solutions that can help unlock the device.
The solutions above can all come in handy when your iPhone is disabled. The method you choose to use will depend on your particular situation. For example, you may find the iCloud method useful if you have enabled Find my iPhone on the device or you may use LazePaw if DFU mode and iCloud are not viable options for you. Choose a solution that best suits your needs and then follow the steps listed above to fix the device.
